CAGE Programs
Motor skill Development (ages 4-12 years)
Provides
- One-on-one motor skill instruction with a focus on fundamental movement skills, sport specific skills, game play and fitness.
- Sessions are 30 minutes in length.
- Session start dates are ongoing and dependent on the availability of a consultant
Fitness sessions: (ages 12 -19 years)
- Personalized fitness and exercise programs.
- Sessions are 45 minutes in length.
- Sessions are ongoing and dependent on the availability of a consultant.
Athlete development
- Sport-specific training for children and youth with disabilities.
- Disability sport team training also available.
Athlete Mentorship Program
- Sport-minded youth gain an understanding of competition and training by training with national level athletes
Team Training Program
- Sport-specific training for recreational and competitive disability sport teams.
Group Programs
Little Activators: (ages 4-6 years)
- Children participate in games and activities that teach
- body and spatial awareness,
- fundamental movement skills
- and game play.
Sport Sampler: (ages 7 to 12 years)
- Children sample a variety of physical activities such as fencing, martial arts, yoga, wall climbing, disability sports, etc.
Teen Drop-in Night: (ages 12 to 19 years)
- Youth follow individual exercise programs, and participate in activities that promote teamwork, physical challenge and social interaction.
- A ‘Fitness Menu’ is created each evening for the youth to choose activities from.
Sport Specific Instructional Group Programs
Skate Challenge
- Inline Skating and basic hockey skills
- Elementary and middle school aged children
Cycle Challenge
- Learn-to-ride-a-bicycle program
- Progressive lesson plans, fitness development, safety instruction and 1:1 support on the bicycle.
Movin' n' Groovin' Dance Class (5-15 years)
- Children and youth are exposed to a variety of dance styles and expressive movements such as
- ballet
- hip hop
- social dance
Instructional Summer camps
- Run July and August in place of regular programming, please see summer camp information.

Aides
Children who attend 1:1 Motor skill development sessions typically do not require an aide to accompany them. However, aides may accompany the child, at the request of the family or at the request of the adapted physical activity instructor.
Children who require one on one assistance in group programs may request to have a university volunteer assigned to them. Depending on the individual needs of the child and volunteer support required, children may be asked to bring an aid.
Funding
Questions concerning reimbursement from Family Support Services for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) should be discussed directly with the families’ Case worker.
Community Outreach Services are available upon request. Please contact an Adapted Physical Activity Consultant within the CAGE program to discuss and/or arrange.
